MAJOR POINTS​:

​

  • The system of the mule tracks and the royal hunting lodges was built by the will of Vittorio Emanuele II, king of Italy, passionate about hunting and the territory in which the Gran Paradiso National Park will then be established. It was thanks to the limitations on hunting activities imposed by King Vittorio Emanuele II that the Alpine ibex (Capra ibex) was able to save itself from extinction (it had in fact disappeared from the entire Alpine arc). Today the Royal House of Hunting houses an unmanaged but well-equipped hiking refuge: we will reach it with the help of the mule and spend the night there, just like the Savoy kings did with their retinue.

  • Close encounters with the typical wildlife of the Gran Paradiso National Park (ibex, chamois, eagles, bearded vultures, marmots etc)

PROGRAMME:

​

  • Day 1: arrival in Locana (TO), meeting with the hiking guide and transfer to Lake Telessio; ring excursion of Lake Telessio and check-in at Rifugio Pontese;

  • Day 2: trekking to the Pontese refuge 2217 m, Colle dei Becchi 2990 m, Bocchetta del Ges 2692 m, Gran Piano 2222 m.

  • Day 3: trekking Gran Piano 2222 m, Colle Sià 2274 m, Colle della Porta 3002 m, Colle della Terra 2911m, Colle del Nivolet 2612, m Rifugio Chivasso 2604 m.

  • Day 4: trekking to Chivasso refuge 2604 Rocca Bianca, Serrù lake 2275 m, Jervis refuge 2250 m, Col del Nel 2551 m, Dres lake 2087 m and Ceresole Reale 1587 m.

4 Days - from 350 EURO

Trekking along the route of the Royal Ultrasky Marathon with overnight stay at the Pontese refuge, the Royal Hunting House of the Gran Piano and the Chivasso refuge. The Royal Ultra Sky Marathon is the Gran Paradiso sky race.

 

7 hills up to 3000 m high, 55 km long, D + = 4141 m and D- = 4504 m, but above all the wild nature of the oldest National Park in Italy.

​

Starting from Lake Teleccio, in the wild Piantonetto Valley, along the route of the monumental network of the royal mule tracks of Caccia del Gran Paradiso, through snowy passes, ibexes, bearded vultures and chamois, ledges and exposed stretches, stony ground and steep pastures at the foot of the peaks Gran Paradiso (4061 m) and Levanne (3619 m), we will reach the shores of Lake Ceresole Reale.
